North Lanarkshire Council has agreed changes to its secondary school curriculum and calendar to provide every young person with the opportunity to access “enrichment” activities each week for an afternoon.
All secondary schools in North Lanarkshire are keen to strengthen existing links with community and voluntary organisations and build new links to support provision of enrichment activities to our young people to improve their well-being, educational attainment, skills, confidence and post-school destinations – helping to reduce inequalities.
These enrichment afternoons will provide a broad range of opportunities to enhance and expand the educational experiences of young people with an emphasis on themes such as:
- citizenship and leadership
- creative arts
- digital learning
- enterprise and employability
- healthy living
- life-skills outdoor
- learning sport
- supported study
VANL has been asked to support the North Lanarkshire community and voluntary sector to contribute to this exciting initiative. If your organisation is able to offer an enrichment activity to one or more secondary schools in your area, please complete the form available for download below in Word format.
VANL appreciates that some Community and Voluntary Sector organisations may not be able to do this without some additional funding, but please submit your form and note this in your submission as there may be opportunities for VANL and others to assist with identification of additional funding.
