Below is our monthly funding round up of grant funding for the third sector in North Lanarkshire:

Yorkshire and Clydesdale Bank Foundation - Spirit of the Community Awards

Next Application Deadline: 19th March 2018

This scheme supports projects that advance financial education, improve employability and promote environmental protection or improvement. Awards will be considered for projects in one of the following categories:

1. Help people have a healthy relationship with money
2. Help people into employment
3. Help people improve their local environment

Projects based in the communities in the areas of England and Scotland where the Bank operates are eligible to apply for grants up to a maximum of £5,000.

Bank of Scotland Foundation – Medium Grants

Next Application Deadline: 6th April (12 noon)

Grants of between £10 001 and £25 000 are available to registered charities with no requirement of match funding.

Funding is available for projects that address the following areas:

  1. Developing and improving local communities – The Foundation feels that it is important to help individuals and groups work together to ensure a better quality of life within their community. Practical ways of making this happen may include:
  • Initiatives designed to encourage the involvement of those too often excluded.
  • Working with people on low incomes, at risk from poverty or with problems finding accommodation.
  • Improving the standard of local facilities.
  1. Financial literacy and financial inclusion – The Foundation believes that making informed judgements and taking effective decisions regarding money are important skills and it aims to help make these essential skills both easy and accessible for all.

The VOLANT Charitable Trust

Next Application Deadline: 30th April 2018

The Volant Trust’s aim is to support women, children and young people who are at risk and facing social deprivation.

The Volant Trust furthers its aim by supporting Scottish charities and projects, whether national or community-based, which help alleviate social deprivation, particularly supporting women, children and young people at risk. Projects must demonstrate a strong focus on supporting women and children affected by hardship or disadvantage and on tackling the issues they face in order to make a lasting difference to their lives and life chances. Grants of up to £10 000 per year for up to 3 years are possible (maximum grant therefore is £30 000).

The Bairdwatson Charitable Trust

Next Application Deadline: 30th April 2018

This scheme awards grants for charitable work related to improving the employability of young people i.e. Employment programmes, supported employment, employment training for young people, or vocational skills. It has a particular interest in Airdrie and North Lanarkshire, and also Ayrshire.

The trust has a grants programme of around £80,000 per annum and meets 3 times a year. Grants are usually between £3,000 and £15,000 a year and funding may be for up to 3 years.
