Voluntary Action North Lanarkshire and University Health and Social Care North Lanarkshire are delighted to announce the launch of a new website for our North Lanarkshire Community Solutions programme.
The Community Solutions programme is our flagship, partnership, strategic investment programme for the community and voluntary sector (CVS) in North Lanarkshire. The programme aims to improve health, wellbeing, inclusion and equality of local people by providing funding and capacity-building assistance for our amazing CVS and volunteers to strengthen the support and services they provide to local people.
The programme currently invests around £3.5 million a year in grants for CVS organisations, through several funding streams including:
- funding for six Community Solutions Locality Hosts to support local engagement in the programme; local capacity building; and management of the Community Solutions Local Activity Fund
- six local, Improving Lives Local Activity Funds which provide small grants to local CVS organisations, with funding decisions taken locally by the six Community Solutions Locality Consortia
- funding for ten Community Connectors – based with North Lanarkshire Disability Forum but working in all localities – to provide support to individuals in need and referring them to sources of support in their community
- two community mental health and wellbeing funds for adults and children and young people (hyperlinks) funding support services delivery through CVS organisations
- a “Carers’ Breather” Fund, helping CVS organisations support unpaid carers
- funding to support befriending
- funding for a CVs organisation to provide support to people being discharged from hospital
VANL also receives funding to support management of the programme and provide capacity building support for the CVS and volunteering
Community Solutions funding comes from a variety of sources including University of Health and Social Care North Lanarkshire; North Lanarkshire Council; NHS Lanarkshire; and Scottish Government.
You can find out more about the programme – including its reach and impact – on the new website.
